Career

Early journalism career

In 2010, she joined WSAZ-TV in Huntington, West Virginia, as a reporter. Arnolt returned to Indianapolis later that year to work as a freelance reporter for WXIN “Fox 59.” In 2011, she accepted a position as a reporter at WDAF-TV “Fox 4” in Kansas City, Missouri, where she stayed for around two years. She returned to WXIN in 2014 as a sports reporter and anchor.

WWE (2016–2021)

Arnolt was invited to a WWE SmackDown show in Indianapolis in 2016 by friend and NFL Jacksonville Jaguars co-owner Tony Khan. Arnolt met WWE Senior Director of Talent Relations Mark Carrano at that show, who introduced her to WWE Monday Night Raw play-by-play commentator Michael Cole, who is key in the company’s hiring of television broadcasters and ring commentators.

Cole was quite intrigued, but there were no available positions. When Brandi Rhodes, who is currently the Chief Brand Officer of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), announced her departure from WWE in May 2016, a door opened, and Arnolt joined WWE. She debuted as a ring announcer for WWE NXT in 2016, but it wasn’t long before she was promoted to the main roster, interviewing WWE superstars and hosting events, segments, and shows on USA Network, WWE YouTube, WWE social media, and WWE Network. She moderated pre-show panels and conducted backstage interviews for Monday Night RAW and WWE NXT until 2021, when she was not re-signed by WWE.

ESPN

Charly began her career with ESPN in September 2018. She provides updates on SportsCenter and presents a Snapchat show called SportsCenter. A few months later, she presented her first episode of First Take after being asked by someone in the network’s talent department what she wanted to do if she had a choice. Following a positive impression in late December 2018, she was given additional opportunity to host First Take and established her place as the principal fill-in host.

Arnolt is also a co-host on ESPN’s First Take, Her Take podcast. Kimberley Martin and Chiney Ogwumike also appear on the weekly show, which follows the same concept as the television show. The podcast provides an opportunity for all three of them to discuss other aspects of their lives and cultures.

Arnolt also appears often on SportsNation on ESPN+, as well as other shows on the streaming service, although she admitted that it’s been challenging to coordinate her WWE and ESPN schedules during the last 12 to 18 months. She has since made the transition from WWE to ESPN.
