Latest Govt Jobs — The rise of Sarkari Naukri in India
Government jobs are on the minds of millions of Indians
The craze for once prestigious then forgotten- Sarkari Naukri has returned and with a bang!
As per Google’s latest report ( Digital Classifieds in India 2020), there has been a 48% increase in the number of searches related to government jobs in India as compared to last year.
sarkari naukri was one of the top searched Indic terms — Nitin Bawankule, industry director, Google India.
This phenomenal rise in the demand for government jobs can be attributed to three major reasons:
- Increase of pink slips in private sector IT jobs: The IT sector which gets the major chunk of recruitment for Indian graduates has seen it’s revenues dwindling riding on low demand from Europe and American markets. Many top tier mass recruiters like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture have laid off thousands of employees in the past year.
The future prospects don’t look too good either. AI is expected to eat up major chunk of mid management level jobs at Indian IT behemoths, leaving thousands in mid-life career crisis.
This is in stark contrast to Govt Jobs, Job Security being the very foundation of these.
- Increase in emoluments and salary of Govt Jobs: The salaries offered by some of the most popular government job exams like IBPS PO, SBI PO, RRB NTPC, SSC CGL are at par or even better than their private sector counterparts. Not only is the in-hand of a government employee more than those of his private sector friends, but the facilities provided to them are unmatched and unheard of in the private sectors. First class train tickets, anyone?
Also, with the election of Mr. Trump as the President of United States, the number of H1-B is expected to come significantly down, thus forcing these big IT behemoths to reduce their onsite staff. These onsite opportunities were the biggest pull for thousands of employees slogging extra hours at below par salaries as a getaway to make quick bucks in foreign currency and bring it back to India for improved lifestyle.
With diminished onsite opportunities, the incentive to join private sector IT jobs is expected to go down significantly making Government Jobs Great Again!
- Improved Work Culture: With the Modi Government in action, the public sector work culture has seen a massive overhaul. No longer are public sector banks and organisations characterized with Babus with oversize bellies sitting and doing nothing, rather they are being increasingly associated with swanky offices, work done in expedite nature, zero corruption, thereby changing the perception of a generation of work ready population.
All said, the demand for Government Jobs is here to stay and will keep growing leaps and bounds! Thank you.
