News on The Latest Rooftop Solutions and Solar Power Plant Projects in India

This article discusses the application of solar rooftops and parks for offices and residential complexes in India.

As the country progresses technologically, new building projects and large constructions in particular have to incorporate special measures like the mandatory installation of a solar rooftop. India has been noted for its many ‘Green’ buildings in recent times; and this ecologically beneficial development is because of a combination of two factors that is typical to the business of rooftop plants and solar parks in India.

To understand Solar Energy and its use in the country today, let us study these two factors -

#1 Energy Concerns and Ecology

As a country of over a billion people, residential complexes have to incorporate modern technology to bring about a new standard of urban living in the country. With the economy on the rise, and residential complexes and office buildings becoming more luxurious over time; the government has to keep in mind the ecological effects of such modernization. Solar rooftops (India and around the world) help cut energy consumption costs per capita at an amazing rate.

While individually calculated, even a well designed solar park in India only provides an “Alternative” source of energy. However, the annual electric supply requirements for a given complex is considerably reduced when they have a solar park. Also, for the drier, sunnier regions of the country like Western and Central India; solar installations can even become the primary source of electricity for homes and offices when designed properly.

#2 Rooftop Solutions and Solar Parks

Rooftop Solar Plants for buildings are usually commissioned for standalone complexes, and occupy much of the roof space. In an office or commercial building, such an installation is practically possible, since roof access is not as important as having a ‘Green’ solar rooftop. Indian construction companies also have begun to incorporate designing features which allows maximum utilization of exposed roof space!

However, with similar construction laws applying to large residential / housing projects; it becomes a bit more difficult to install rooftop solutions for every building! This is when a construction company would require the more applicable solar park. In India, such solar parks could also be commissioned collectively by multiple residential complexes within a locality.

Solar parks are larger open spaces, which can be located behind residential complexes, or even well landscaped inside the complex itself. Since there is not much machinery or heavy equipments needed for solar projects; these parks can be considered safe within residential areas. However, for most of the solar rooftops in India; the idea is to help provide alternate energy resources rather than just ecological mandates. Even a large park cannot generate enough energy consistently for many households; while an office building can generate up to half their energy requirements from their rooftop installation itself!
