Final Entry

I felt like the project requirements for the class were sometimes a little misleading. A lot of the “requirements” listed were recommendations. Additionally, I did not realize that we also had a rubric listed, in addition to the project requirements. For example, we only found out about the rubric after we received our phase II project grades. The rubric was located at the bottom of the requirements phase at the end of the requirements for each phase, so we did not know that we had one since we did…

Seventh Entry

What did you do this past week?

I was working with my team on phase III of the IDB project the past week. My main tasks included implementing searching, sorting and filtering on the frontend and rendering the required components. I also reformatted the style and refined our code a little bit, to make it more consistent.

What’s in your way?

I do not think anything, in particular, was in my way this phase. I just think that our team faced some difficulty in working with Elastic Search. Apart from that, everything went well.

What will you do…

Sixth Entry

What did you do this past week?

I mostly just worked on Phase II of the IDB project. Specifically, I worked on the frontend side of things. My tasks included making the content on our website dynamic by consuming the API made by the team, implementing pagination, creating our Docker images and integrating them with GitLab CI, writing GUI tests with Selenium and setting up Mocha and react-scripts for javascript testing.

What’s in your way?

I think since most of my work was frontend, it was difficult to make significant progress until the database was created and our…

Fifth Entry

What did you do this past week?

I worked on Phase 2 of the IDB project with my team after taking the test. I have mostly been working on building and running our Docker images, integrating it with GitLab CI, and implementing front-end components.

What’s in your way?

I think Phase 2 is pretty back-end heavy. It has been taking us a while to implement the database, our RESTful API, and getting it working together correctly. And, the front-end part of the project is pretty dependent on this core functionality. From that standpoint, my progress has been slow…

Fourth Entry

What did you do this past week?

The past week, I mostly just worked on Phase 1 of the IDB project with my group. We worked on creating on RESTful API, finishing the frontend application, deploying it on the server and responding to our user stories. Our team worked together throughout, so all of us had a part in each part of Phase 1. Whoever had the most skills or was most comfortable in a particular task lead the rest of us in it. This set up helped us connect as a team and made it less stressful/taxing…

Third Entry

What did you do this past week? What’s in your way? What will you do next week?

The past week, I finished working on the Collatz assignment and started to work on Phase I of the IBD project. It has been nice to get to know the team I will be working with the rest of the summer as we build a website! The past week we primarily focussed on getting our environments set up. After we finalized our idea, selected a few APIs to use, and got our website proposal approved, we started working on three different…

Second Entry

What did you do this past week? What’s in your way? What will you do next week?

The past week, I was working on getting into the groove of my summer classes. Since it is the summer, I find myself getting distracted every time I glance out the window. Despite that, however, I have been pretty productive this week. I worked on a few assignments for my other classes, finished some personal work, and started working on the Collatz project. My goals for this week include completing all pending assignments and learning more about Software Development at large…

Where did grow up? What high school did you attend? What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?
I grew up in Novi (Michigan) and Chennai (India). I lived in Michigan till I was 9 and then completed my middle and high school in India.
