Kagutsuchi, also known as the “Fire God”, is a deity of Japanese mythology. He is said to be the son of the goddess Izanami and the god Izanagi, and is often associated with fire, both in its destructive and purifying forms.

Kagutsuchi is said to have been born from the sparks of his father’s sword as he cut away the last of the eight million worlds that the two had created. He is also said to be responsible for the death of his mother, Izanami, who died giving birth to him.

Kagutsuchi is an important figure in many Shinto rituals and festivals, particularly those involving fire. He is also sometimes worshipped as a deity of smithing and metalworking.
