Powerful earthquake shakes Mexico

A powerful earthquake flattened a Mexico school partially of missing children. It became a race against time on Wednesday as the death toll rose to at least 25.

Officers and volunteers pulled 25 bodies. Four of them are children from the Enrique Rebsamen School in the south of the capital.

Dr. Pedro, one of the volunteers, told the associated press that he almost managed to crawl into the crevices, but found the occupants dead. He also added, “We saw some chairs and wooden tables. The next thing we saw a leg and then we started to move rubble and found a girl and two adults.”

11 people rescued alive but 30 people were still missing as of 2.00 am E.T. it is according to Mexico’s education minister, Aurelio N Mayer.

Parents were anxious by waiting outside the gates. Although the reports for two families had received WhatsApp messages those are trapped inside, they could not be confirmed.

Volunteers and rescuers brought in wooden beams to shore up the fallen concrete slabs. A volunteer is waiting for a sign to go in and to get the survivors. He told “yes I’m waiting for a signal and if they are somebody alive, I’m going to get in here,” told NBC News.

If asked why the man is ready to answer “because I’m a Mexican. Somebody is alive in there, so somebody has to do it.”

Tuesday’s earthquake was deadlier, even It is weaker but more destructive. The head of the national civil protection agency said on Twitter, that earlier Wednesday the nationwide death toll stood at 225, including 94 in the Mexican city.
