A Theory of Sorts — Control
Do not get me wrong, control had a reasonable purpose…at one point; to feel the world was not a random, uncertain place. Now control is more readily known as, a “Complex of Control” in which the affected tries to exert his/her will on the environmental, self and metaphysical playing fields. The never ending goal is to form all encompassing taut regulations, which will protect oneself from their own vulnerability on life. And I wish to digress for a moment to comment on this bitter position the term “vulnerability” holds in our society; taken in most cases as a sign of debility, even idiocy. Indeed, the aforementioned is further away from reality than Creation from basic science. Allowing oneself to morph or change, leads to increased happiness coupled with a desire to expand the newfound mental/emotional passageways opened by transformation. Enter the control aspect:
“I must protect my softcore! For if I do not, the human will be wrenched back down to childhood apprehension, releasing all authority over life! I am far past that stage. The human has come this far, to be knocked back down to younger days? I think not!”
Given the above passage, an individual exhibiting a control complex finds youth to be mediocre, wild, asinine. The individual believes his or her mandate is to set order because, buried beneath self-inscribed law, the individual is shaking with an inordinate fear of abandonment. A regulated environment is therefore implemented for stability, as the internal mass quivers, at the sight of a 7.0 magnitude emotional earthquake. Instead of tapping into the fearful vulnerability, those affected guard it, surround the malleable core with rigidity; manipulate others to change so they themselves mustn’t — risking further destabilization. Manipulation strategies are an attempt at filling the void, the emptiness we find ourselves in.
Yes, we. I’m well aware of my control complex. I strive for law enforcement, let me pick those two words apart:
law -> the very action I pulse out of my every pore
en force meant -> I display influential potency. Force will never apply only to physical power, I speak of force in terms of manipulation and pressure; paradoxically the very omnipotence we exude increases the danger of that 7.0 magnitude emotional earthquake.
A tagenet: if my musings resemble something of a codependent mindset, you would not be off the mark. A complex of control is a cousin of codependency, both groups yearn for closeness, yet the controllers differ from the codependents by keeping friends out, thus feeding their own plight.
Many humans had a reference point, the parents who stated what were the boundaries. Some complex of control persons invented their own boundaries, anchored captaincy over their surroundings in their chests. While Western culture would have us believe that is a noble act, tis’ quite heedless, if we are of the understanding that self — anchored control is eradicated with ease. Here, outsiders may see the collapse of a wall, one who stood firm, all of a sudden a mere heap. Control anchored in many others, as well as in the self is over and above what us control “freaks” can muster. When speaking in quantity, amassing a group of trustees, will usually trump the single power…albeit a near unstoppable one.
Note: “A Theory of Sorts” will be a series posted when need be. Complex of Superiority is next, followed by The Destructive Drive. Intrigue. A powerful tool, my friends.
