Valencia College President Announces New Free-Rides Partnership with LYNX

*UPDATED SEPT. 05, 2017.

UPDATE: Dr. Shugart gives the highly-anticipated LYNX bus service a try!

Just in time for the busy fall semester, Valencia College now offers all students and employees free rides on the LYNX bus service. The new partnership between Valencia and LYNX allows anyone with a Valencia college ID to ride free anywhere on the LYNX system at any time. This includes the LYNX NeighborLink service, which brings riders from less populated areas to the nearest LYNX bus stop. Valencia College president Sandy Shugart announces the new partnership in the following video.

Those who wish to take advantage of the new free rides partnership can go to their campus security office to receive a 2017–18 LYNX decal for their college ID. A grace period through Sep. 30 will allow free entry to Central Florida Transit Authority busses with just a Valencia College ID. Starting Oct. 1, free entry will not be granted to Valencians without a LYNX decal.

The LYNX system serves the six major Valencia College campuses across Orange and Osceola counties — including the newly-opened Poinciana Campus. And starting in Fall 2017, LYNX offers a series of new mobile apps complete with GPS bus tracking. As access and user technology both continue to improve, riding the bus becomes a more viable option for Valencia students and employees across Central Florida.
