The Momentous Secret to Happiness

Your whole experience of life has only been in the present. You may have been thinking about things in the future or in the past, but you were thinking of those things in the present.

Unhappiness comes from resisting, not accepting what’s happening in the present, now. Not saying you should only think of the present — I hope you’re thinking of the future and learning from the past. The problem is not thinking about tomorrow or thinking about the past. The problem is not accepting the present, now.

Happiness is the default state if you fully accept what’s happening. If you can fully accept what is happening in the moment, then you’re automatically happy, no matter what’s happening.

Happiness is not about what’s happening to you or around you. It’s about how you’re accepting each moment.

Whatever is happening right now, can only be the way it is right now. Yes, there’s uncertainty as to what will happen later. Future moments could be a million things. But right now, this moment, whatever is happening is the only thing that could be happening. Now is inevitable. Now is unique.

Each moment is inevitable, so why resist it?

Fully accept now and you’ll be happy.

Secrets are meant to be shared with friends.
