As a freelancer, I know firsthand that pitching to new clients and searching for new job opportunities can be a rollercoaster of emotions. While it can be exciting and full of promise, it can also be frustrating and filled with uncertainty. However, it’s essential to remain focused and not let these moments of frustration get the best of you.

Finding new clients as a freelancer is a challenging feat. It requires consistent pitching and waiting for responses, which can sometimes leave you feeling disappointed and doubtful of your abilities. It’s natural to question your skills and marketing strategies, but it’s crucial not to let self-doubt take over. Rejection does not always reflect your value or abilities as a freelancer, so don’t let it bring you down.

During these moments of frustration, it’s important to remain empathetic and understanding towards yourself. Take the time to reflect on what you can improve upon in your approach, but don’t let self-doubt consume you. Remember that you’re not alone in this experience; many other freelancers face similar challenges.

It’s also important to be mindful of expenses during lean times. Keep your costs low and focus on building your portfolio and skill set so you’re ready when new opportunities arise. By doing this, you can remain financially stable and avoid unnecessary stress.

There will be good days and bad days as a freelancer. Celebrate your wins, no matter how small they may be, and keep pushing forward through the challenging times. With perseverance and dedication, you can navigate these challenges and thrive in the world of freelancing.

Research your potential client

Before you pitch, it’s essential to do some **stalking research** on the client/brand you want to work with. Get to know their business, brand, and target audience.

Personalize your pitch

When pitching, personalize your message to your client. Address them by name, reference their recent work, and explain how your services can benefit them. Doing this demonstrates that you have done your research and understand their needs.

Highlight your unique value proposition

To better serve your potential clients, it’s important to highlight how you stand out from other competitors. Emphasize your skills and experience to demonstrate the unique value you can bring to their business. This will help the client better understand how you can assist them.

Be concise and clear

Keep your pitch short, straightforward, and easy to understand. No one wants to read a deadly long email. Explain your services and any other critical details. Unlike most people, I choose not to add my rates when pitching to new clients. I believe that doing so may limit my chances of forming strong bonds with them.

Include examples of your work

Provide examples of your work to demonstrate your skills and experience. This can be in the form of a portfolio or relevant case studies.

In conclusion, pitching to new clients as a freelancer can be challenging, but it’s essential to remain focused and not let self-doubt take over.
