Opinions are like Noses

Opinions are like noses, everyone has one. Often, people write their opinions on social media. Most of the time it is done to prove a point or express some type of feeling. A recent study by Pew Research stated that “ not everyone changes their opinion on politics or social dilemmas because of rants posted on social media” (Moscaritolo 2018). The study asks their audience whether or not they changed their opinions on matters because of an issue posted on social media. The article states that those who were most likely to change their views were young men between 18–29 (Moscaritolo 2018). I was very surprised to know that men are usually the ones who change their opinions regarding a social issue. I thought that women were prone to a change of heart in these types of situations. In a way, this type of study informs us of how persuasive a person can be to change other people’s views. It also shows how other people can keep their unwavering opinions. These type of issues can represent a problem for business and political circumstances. Social media forms a big part of our lives. If a person can easily post a comment that hinders a company, then that company can suffer greatly. It is a known fact that there are more negative comments online than positive. It is very bad for business when they allow their consumers to speak openly about grave issues. Comments like thse can drive consumers away and give bad poblicity to the company. On the other hand, if they do not allow those consumers to speak openly, then the company would not be able to improve their services. Politics is a common example of this. The idea of politics is to change society as a whole towards a greater good ,yet social media can turn their actions from good to bad in one post.
