I guide the group in Vrksasana, the Tree Pose. Balancing on one leg is simple for some, for others challenging, even scary. Relax, don’t be wary. Can you make this pose a breeze? Now they’re stalwart oaks, rigid pines, fluid willows — all of them exploring how to embody and express as trees.

And what a remarkable grove this instructor sees! All ages, sizes, back stories. Effortlessly. Precariously. Holding ground. Teetering around. Roots, trunk, branches. Breathe, don’t freeze! Make no mistake this is how it’s done. Feet deep in the earth, arms spread to the sky. Do or not do, there is no try. Refresh your focus, now you’re in the zone. Serious fun this returning home.
