Some men respect a no as a “never”. You don’t notice them because they only annoy you once. Other men believe that no means “no, not right now.” It’s the difference between reproductive success and genetic extinction.

This is WHY we have the Rule of Law and not the Rule of Tooth, Nail and Claw.

We no longer use our limbic responses as excuses or legal justification for stalking, rape and murder (although for some reason we do occassionally recognize a crime as a “Crime of Passion”) in these United States.

Furthermore, we recognise differences in perception between people and amongst individuals and we create cultural standards that address these differences in perception so no misunderstanding can be claimed (i.e., “No means No,” and the more recent, “If s/he’s under the influence, s/he cannot possibly give consent AND the default behaviour is NO”).
