Family violence remains a serious issue in Victoria Australia, with the latest crime statistics revealing that around half of all assaults were family violence related.

In the twelve months leading up to March 2024, Victoria Police responded to almost 96,000 family violence callouts, equating to one incident every six minutes.

Breaches of family violence orders have remained relatively stable, showing a modest 0.6% increase.

Despite this, the persistence of tech-facilitated offences continues to be a concern.

34 Thousand incidents in which children were present were recorded by police in the year until March 2024.

There were 25 thousand Intervention orders and family safety violence notices issued (combined) and 22 thousand charges laid.

There were 72 thousand incidents against women (an increase of 3% since last year and 10% since 2020) and 24 thousand incidents against men (an increase of 3.5% since last year, and of almost 15% since 2020).
