Could you share your definition of fun listening vs critical listening? I have a high end high def portable music player I use with a pair of Shure se535 earbuds that have great sound but get uncomfortable after a couple hours. I work at home on a computer all day and listen to music for 4 to 6 hour stretches and I am very picky about sound quality. I am willing to invest in a portable headphone amp that will drive up to 600 ohm headphones but I like everything I read about the DT770s, so I am looking to go with either the 80 ohm limited edition or the 250 ohm. I mostly listen to classical music, operas and 60s heavy metal, with some high harmony stuff like Beach Boys, Simon and Garfunkel and The Association.
