Full Length video !!! the video format who made all the brand such a Big name today. About an hour of footage (more or less) showcasing the brand vibes, and also showcasing each Skateboarders of a Team and doing their best moves in individual parts or on some edits. Those masterpiece will be always in the fans heart and even the soundtrack would be in the playlist of a lifetime !
Such an important format for skateboarding but the production takes years, costs a lot and the Internet thirst of content did make it a bit obsolete… Footage goes in Instagram clip or Edit for Facebook and Youtube, and it becomes a individual post, no more a “part” of anything.
Malagasy Skateboarding went on the later way because it’s the easier solution and also what the Internet demand, self promotion !!! But it was not always the case and there is some “section” of full length here and there spread on the Internet ! Most of the project was before the “ Internet Era ” and some was broken down to pieces for Internet daily needs ! In all case, they were done in the “ Underground ” tradition so only the “core” had a copy or knew where they are. Therefore this article is an ode to Malagasy Full length project : Counting down each one who has fragments on the Internet !
MOOV XTREME “ Next Episode “ (2010)
Moov Xtreme Next episode is the second video of a crew of skateboarders from Andravoahangy named Moov Xtreme, but as the original members started to quit, The main dude behind the camera known as “ DoWz ” started to film every skateboarder he met to fill the blanks, which transform the Moov Xtreme Project to a “ Homies video ”, showing every skaters of that era. A fan of Skate video in general and Video Magazines, Moov Xtreme was highly influenced by 411VM wanting everyone on the video. The filming session was between the year 2008 to 2010. And was out om DVD Format in limited Edition… Later on some part was uploaded on Facebook. No techniques or whatsoever , it was the learning phase and everything is Sketchy from filming, trick selection to the Upload. Here are the section that we can still find on the net ! :
Side Skate Association “ New Life “ ( 2011)
Side Skate Association is the brainchild of the Skateboarders from 67 ha, the Most influential skateboarders of that era ! Been filmed in parallel of Moov Xtreme “ Next Episode ”, it was released later on ! and it is kinda the first full length broken down to “ parts ” and been uploaded on Youtube
Akaska “ Akama ‘m’ Skate ” ( 2013)
As everyone stared to skate with everyone, it was not about the streets where you came from anymore, it’s all about Akama ‘m’ Skate literally Friends who skate together ! the movement Akama will become the SMEG Asso as whe know today , because of risk of name conflict… Filming got cleanner and everyone started to have their on styles and tricks selection ! More important , it was a true team work !!! The video was released on DVD in limited edition and soon broke down to parts for Internet needs , as Usual !!! And it is also from where the Akama Blog and Youtube Channel came from !
SKATEBOARDING MALAGASY EDUCATIONAL GROUP “ SMEG Attitude ” (2014)
SMEG Asso was born thanks to the Akama movement ! Legal and on point in the law of Madagascar ! Guys do celebrate it with a Skate Web series called S.M.E.G Attitude ! as now dropping part a week aprat is the tradition to go !
AKAMA ” Madagaskate “(2015)
in 2015, things started to change ! more and more new talent is emerging in Madagascar and some of the guys did had the opportunity to move out the country ! which trigged the urge of pointing out how we do it in Madagascar ! and how we export it to other country ! Malagasy we stand !
SKATE BRIGADE “ Live the Spot ” (2015)
A project by Nemo, with the team named Skate Brigade that worked with the RTA Television. The team was nicknamed as the “elite” of Malagasy skateboarding at the time, And a video is a must just for such honor ! even for the sake of the culture !
