In today’s online landscape, the significance of safeguarding our online interests continues to increase. More and more we see headlines about cyber threats, and online security breaches targeted at individuals but at companies as well. These attacks can be committed for various reasons: collecting user data, obtaining a ransom sum, or to perform larger scale supply chain attacks.

The need for robust Identity and Access Management (IAM) practices emerges as a cornerstone of modern enterprise operations.

Enterprises today find themselves at the crossroads of managing an ever-expanding array of users, devices, and applications, all while ensuring stringent security measures are in place. Amidst this complexity, the need to centralise and streamline IAM processes has become paramount.

As part of my day to day job at Showpad where I’ve been a part of the IAM team almost since its inception, I’ve witnessed firsthand what it takes to balance security protocols and operational efficiency for enterprise customers. I’ve had the privilege to gain some invaluable insights into the inner workings of enterprise IAM frameworks, general needs of enterprise customers in their IAM domain, the expectations of their vendors, and the evolving landscape of online security.

Going forward, I’ll be taking you on this journey where I distill my experiences in the IAM domain in a series of short blog posts to educate you.

Before we continue, I do want to give the small disclaimer that this series will mostly be about the fundamentals you need as a company to integrate with the online SaaS products you use and why they are so important.

As a secondary goal, I will also focus on what you as a B2B SaaS company needs to do to successfully meet the requirements of the companies who trust and use your product every day, in order to facilitate them as best as possible and make online safety as seamless for them as possible.
