A new breed of charity run for a new breed of tech nonprofit
Do you know BeCode? This nonprofit does wonders for tech education in Belgium. Its mission is simple: provide free coding education for everyone, regardless of their background. Put simply, BeCode offers the opportunity for anyone to jump on the tech bandwagon, provided that they’re ready to work their a**** out on HTML, CSS and PHP.
10 months ago I fell in love with that project. Given that besides coding and Blockchain I’m also found of running, it wasn’t long before the idea of Cryptorun for Becode was born.
The deal is simple: I will attempt to run 60KM around Brussels to raise awareness and funds for BeCode. The catch is that instead of fiat money we are raising Ether on a smart contract! You can donate any amount of ETH on this address: 0x7ad38438b15338f6d1846961903055adA6FfF054. All crypto will be converted to fiat and used to benefit even more students.
The funds are actually locked on a smart contract, a special application running on the Blockchain. This application will release the funds only if my Blockchain-connected GPS shows that I was able to cover the 60KM around Brussels! That’s gonna be quite an experience.
