Do you know why it is so important to set goals in life?

Everybody wants a better quality of life, do something greater and set amazing goals. But something stops us from doing what we want to do or what we want to achieve. We’re stuck with the idea of what we’re not supposed to be (overweight, broke, etc.), not supposed to do (don’t smoke, don’t eat sugar, etc.). You must understand that your habits created the life you currently have.

What is the single power right now that can change everything? It’s the power of choice. We can’t control the events, but we can control what to focus on, what things mean, and we can choose what to do.

You must become conscious of your decisions first. It’s very important, because if you want to change your life and your results you must make new choices which will then create new habits for you.

But how do you shift your mindset to make the right decisions?

With setting goals. Goals will help you shape the life you want, so you can create your own destiny.

Goals can transform your life if done properly and specifically. Tony Robbins

What kind of goals should you set for yourself?

Your goals have to be as clear and specific as possible, even if you have no idea of how it’s going to happen yet. You must set goals that will make something out of you to achieve it. Goals that inspire, help you grow, create emotions inside of you and goals that will make you develop new skills. It’s not the money, the fame or the perfect partner, it’s what you became to make it happen. You can be a millionaire at 30, lose everything at 33 but you became a better person, a smarter person, more educated person to become a millionaire at 30 than if you would have just been chilling and partying all the way up to 30. So, with that mindset, since you became a millionaire once, you can make it happen again if that’s what you desire.

Another important aspect is that you must take the responsibility for yourself, nobody will work on your goals for you, but you. You must work hard, stay consistent and hold yourself accountable. It’s not easy, just remember it’s for a better future.

A lot of people call themselves lazy and they might appear lazy to you. But it’s not that they’re lazy, they just have very lousy goals or no goals at all. They have nothing that can drive them, nothing to be excited about in their future. Don’t be that person. Look at your current circumstances in life. And if you can’t see what you are looking for then change it and create new circumstances.

So, let me put this into a more practical approach for you.

There are two kinds of goals.

  • Long range goals (time frame: 3 years — to the rest of your life) Dreams
  • Short range goals (time frame: tomorrow, this week, this month, one year) Confident Builders

Both are defined in 3 different categories:

  1. Economics (income, business, profits)
  2. Things (things you want, small and big)
  3. Personal development (be stronger, be a leader, learn more skills)

Write everything down, each set of goals with each category and make plans for yourself. Plans for what you’re going to do today, tomorrow, or this week, to get a little closer to your goal every day, every week, every month, every decision at a time.

Every morning before I get out of the bed, I write in my journal. Just a few words of what my goals or plans are for today or what I could do better if I didn’t have a good experience the day before. It just takes 5 minutes. But it has helped me tremendously and it is now even something I’m looking forward to in the morning. I created a habit that will help me grow.

I know it seems like a lot but with this formula you will not fail, if you follow through with it, you will have a major shift in life. You will raise your standards, you will have new “musts” in life, which will then make you create new habits. And slowly but surely, you’re becoming a new person with new skills, different outlook in life and a bright future ahead. Trust and enjoy the process while you do it and celebrate your achieved goals. Reward yourself for being great and becoming even greater.

Are you afraid to fail?

If you have doubt or you’re afraid to fail because you failed before, write down 12 reasons why you won’t fail. This will help you create momentum to keep going when things are getting complicated.

Every single successful business person had setbacks before, failed or lost money. But they don’t look at it as a failure, they get back up and work even harder, now with the knowledge of what not to do next time so they won’t fail again and with the experience of how to become even more successful.

Stay focused and just know that there will be distractions, it’s part of the process. It’s not there to stop you, but to challenge you so you can work a little harder over time and so you can grow.

When I started just a few months ago I had no idea how I’m going to make “this thing” work for me but I stayed consistent, worked on my goals every day, even if it was just for 20 minutes, or one hour on my lunch break and I can already feel a huge shift in how I feel and the things that are happening to me. Sometimes, I’m not kidding, I’m so happy from deep inside that I don’t even know what to do with this feeling. It just comes over me like a big wave when you first jump in the refreshing ocean on a hot summer day. These moments give me so much inspiration and drive that it makes me do things that I have never thought I would be capable of doing. When I look at every aspect of my life now, compared to where I started, it makes me so proud of myself. And I know if I made it this far, I can achieve anything. And you can do it too!

With that in mind, I will let you go, off to set your goals for a better future.
