What are the secrets to success?

Well, successful people work hard. But you work hard too, right?

And if you keep working harder and harder you’ll just be miserable. So what’s the answer?

Successful people don’t just work hard on their jobs but on themselves.

Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. If you work hard on your job you’ll make a living, if you work hard on yourself you can make a fortune.

— Jim Rohn

That’s a quote by the late Jim Rohn, an American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker who told us not just about doing hard work, but where to work hard.

Those who work hard on themselves instead of their job are invested in their personal development.

They are committed to reading books, attending seminars and lectures, working with the right coaches and mentors and are lifelong learners. They build successful micro habits that contribute to their success.

They are humble in the face of victory and gracious in defeat. They realise life is about constant learning, developing and nurturing their greatest asset — themselves.

They do not have all the answers but are willing to step out of their comfort zone and try new things, knowing the slightest information will create a snowball effect in terms of success when the time is right.

They know that they have never arrived enough to explore new opportunities. They are always exploring things to make a better version of themselves.

The greatest gift you can give somebody is your own personal development. I used to say, “If you will take care of me, I will take care of you. Now I say, I will take care of me for you, if you will take care of you for me.

— Jim Rohn

So, what’s our lesson of the day:

Start to work hard on yourself to become successful or increase your chances of success.

Now, some of you might ask me, “How can I work on myself?”

So, some things you can do are:

1. Whatever you want, write it down!

You may think of remembering your thoughts or your goals, but what you don’t know is?

Many successful people write their goals. They set their goals for the year and write it down. That’s why they can remember what they had written.

That’s why you should also start to write down your goals so that you can reflect upon them later on!

2. Workout

What workout have to do with personal development? If you are thinking this, my friend then, I can say tell me about one successful person who does not do exercise. Everyone does it.

Whether it’s gymnastics, swimming, running or even a just simple walk, every successful person does it because when we talk about personal development, it’s a non-negotiable.

3. Read, learn and listen

As I told successful people are lifelong learners. They are always craving for knowledge.

They read a lot of books, I mean they are voracious readers. They attend a lot of webinars and lectures. They listen to different podcasts or whatever that can provide them with the knowledge they are craving for.

So, I don’t need to tell you that you have to do the same. Learn a lot.

4. Know yourself.

Reflect on yourself. Know who you are, your core values, your beliefs, your interests, your strengths and weaknesses etc…

In the beginning, it can be hard and painful to self-reflect, but be honest with yourself. Focus on your strengths, develop your talents, become excellent at it and cover for your weaknesses.

But whatever point you achieve in your life never forget your roots.

And the list of personal development goes on. You can start with some of these. Build good habits, and break the bad ones. Self-reflect upon yourselves and start craving for knowledge.

START TO WORK HARD ON YOURSELF.
