1. Forget about how rich your vocabulary are.

Please keep in mind that your reader has to understand what your point. If you want to show off your knowledge by using the extraordinary words, best guess is your reader might not understand it. The best way to write is to keep everything simple, that people in every age (or countries) can read it. Forget about your college essays, and write like you’re explaining to a child. That is the quickest way to make people get what your point is.

2. Make sure your sentences represents an idea.

Once you get your vocabulary right, this is the most annoying thing I find on the newbie bloggers. What turns me off is when the starting paragraph is good, but then it leads to nowhere. It’s like I’m going for a road trip, getting lost in the middle, and not be able to reach the destination. Dear writers, please state what your point is, rather than leaving it hanging. The answer of your blog title should be found on your closure paragraph.

3. Be honest.

One of the reasons why bloggers gain their awareness is how they’re being honest with the content they produce. If you’re a food blogger, don’t paint the pretty picture. If the food’s not delicious, please don’t guide people there. If you’re travel blogger, please make sure that the place is mirroring what you’re saying. I know sometimes it’s difficult when brands pay some price to feature their place on an influencer’s blog, but isn’t it better for the brand if we criticize them in the right way? They can improve and serve the market better.

4. Title should make people want to read.

As videos are taking over everywhere, people don’t spend much time on blogs. That affects how people are writing blog so much that the title of the blog should make people want to read. Not only that, make sure you put your point in bigger fonts, so they won’t miss a point.

5. If you’re going to rant about something, don’t ever think to blog about it.

As I’m writing about something, I always want to share something that is useful and make a better something out of it. If you’re expecting someone will go to your blog after some Google searches, only to find out that you’re complaining about something, please… reserve your energy for something else. An article should be educating people about something. If it’s not educating, you should think twice about it.

Conclusion

I know I’m not a professional writer, but I’m a diligent reader. This is how I determine which blog to read, which influencers to follow, and which website I subscribe to. Hope this information helps some of the bloggers out there.
