Day 139 of Azerbaijani “Eco-Activism”

Not sure if I can still have my title as “Eo-Activism” because the “eco-activists” have now left and have been supplanted by the Azerbaijan Army and police. I think it should rather be titled “Azerbaijani Ethnic Cleansing of Armenians.” The title will be more fitting, but ethnic cleansing was what Azerbaijan has had in its mind since not just the beginning of the blockade but rather after its defeat in the First Artsakh War. I guess now it can be viewed as a blockade by the international community; however, as I mentioned before, that will not make a difference for Artsakh.

Regardless of the title, the motive behind Azerbaijan has and will remain the same. How can one deter such egregious acts? Here are a couple of things Armenia has attempted so far.

Firstly, Armenia has already attempted to seek international support through several different means. All these attempts have failed to bring about any change as of yet. Even the highest UN court, the International Court of Justice, ordered Azerbaijan to allow unhindered movement through the Berdzor Corridor months prior. Azerbaijan has dismissed any action by the international community and continues its terror.

Secondly, Artsakh has been rationing its food and gas supply in order to suffice its entire population. How long could this rationing last? At some point, the reserves will reach critically low levels and will not be enough to provide Artsakh with enough food and gas.

I believe there are only three possible solutions to the problem:

The first potential solution will be to make Artsakh completely self-sufficient and be able to supply itself with local resources. They must begin investing in essential agriculture, manufacturing, and energy production in order to create a self-reliant economy.

The second potential solution will be to conduct diplomatic negotiations with Azerbaijan to open up the blockade. However, Azerbaijan has already set up its terms for negotiations and does not seem to be willing to change its position. By negotiating, Armenia and Artsakh will not come out in a favorable situation, and Artsakh could be lost entirely.

The last potential solution would be to resort to war and military action. If Artsakh were to be pushed into extreme circumstances, they will be left with no other choice but to take military action. They would resort to fighting for their right to exist in Artsakh. This is also not a favorable solution as Armenia is hardly recovering from the war in 2020, and another war could be catastrophic for Armenia. However, it might be the only solution left as being surrounded by territory-hungry dictators, Armenia’s statehood as a whole would be threatened. Therefore this war would be a fight for Armenian statehood and the right for Armenians not only to live in Artsakh but also in Armenia.
