Nowadays most organizations manage, analyze and leverage big data in any given industry. One of the most promising areas where big data analytics can be applied is healthcare. Healthcare analytics has the potential to reduce the costs of treatment, find new ways to treat diseases and improve the standard of life.

Analytics refers to the systematic use of technologies, methods, and data to derive insights and enable fact-based decision making for planning, management, operations, measurement, and learning.

Healthcare professionals are collecting massive amounts of information and look for effective strategies to use them. Physician decisions have become more and more evidence-based, meaning they depend on research and clinical data as opposed to only their professional opinion.

Analyzing data not only increases efficiency but also helps to identify new opportunities that are otherwise unknown. Precision medicine is an advanced tool in the fight against cancer. It is an outcome of healthcare analytics.
