We all know that it’s not enough to just create a website. It doesn’t make sense to create a website and forgo any work on its improvement. By improvement, I mean making it more attractive for visitors, SEO friendlier for better rankings, easier to navigate, increasing conversions and much more. You want your website to be the best and meet your visitor’s needs. On the way of making it better and more trustworthy, you have to consider lots of aspects and one of them is how “human” your website is. You may ask why it is important and does that really matter for my business? In most of the cases, it definitely does matter so let’s see how you can do that.

1. Create Interesting ‘About Us’ page

The ‘About Us’ page is one of the most visited pages on the website so you have to make it attractive and informative for your audience. Haven’t you noticed? While visiting a website you always click on About Us page right from the home page. The reason you do this is that you want to know more about the people behind this company. You want to make sure that they are trustworthy and relatable. Be honest. Every time you click on ‘About Us’ you hope to see photos of people, their faces, because your subconscious makes them relatable.

The main goal of the ‘About Us’ page is to build trust between you and your visitors, and tell your story. For this reason, you absolutely need to include the following in your “About Us” page:

  • Images

People always want to know who is standing behind the business.

  • Address

They want to know where your office is located.

  • Short story about your journey and who you are
  • Testimonials

They want to make sure that other people liked your services and they can trust you.

  • Certifications and awards

It gives to your trustworthiness more weight.

  • Include video about your company, values, or culture

Try to answer the most important questions of your visitors above the fold so they won’t scroll down and search for it.

2. Add a Human Face to Your Design

Multiple studies have shown that adding human faces and even silhouettes to your website design make it more engaging. The reason why is simple. As human beings, we always search for something familiar and whenever we see that on the website homepage can make a huge difference. Especially when people show positive emotions on the page.

3. Use Human Language

The great way to make your website more “human” is to speak your customer’s language. Choose a simple language that your potential clients are using not only for communication but in the search queries as well.

Make sure you are not talking about yourself or your company in the third person. Using the terms “we” or “I” will help you better connect with your audience. Try to use less formal tone and more emotions.

Try to be clear and transparent as much as you can. Not only will it help you better connect with your audience, but also it will build trust.

4. Listen to Your Customer Feedback

Listen to your customers, their comments, and feedback and always try to reply. Enable your website comment sections, enable a live chat, collect testimonials and make people understand that you are listening to them. The great way to show them that you are listening is replying to their questions and suggestions.

Closed comment sections and inability to give a feedback is an indication that you don’t trust your clients and avoid being criticized.

5. Write About Your Company Values

Write about your mission, values and what your company adds and does for the society. Of course, it’s not a Miss Universe competition but your visitors want to know not about yourself or your company alone but more about what your business does for the world and what values it adds to the society. Sounds strange but we all go more after values the companies add to our lives rather than the products themselves.

Try to define your company values in human terms. The real value of your company, what is it about, what you believe in and how you make the world and other people’s lives better.

This will make your business unique and valuable. Nowadays values are something that every company must have in order to stand out.

In other words, you have to make visitors understand that there are people standing behind your website and that they care. As one of my favorite authors and entrepreneurs Gary Vaynerchuk says: “Best marketing strategy ever? Care.” and he is absolutely right. This will be a long-term marketing strategy for improving your business success and increasing conversions of course.
