What is Mental Health ?
According to mentalhealth.gov, it’s a state of well being that affects how we think, feel or act upon something.
Sometimes we just need to take a step back and realize how far we have come instead of how far, we have to go. It is important to raise awareness about mental health & stop the stigma surrounding it. Our life is a journey, and as we all know every journey has many speed breakers, some hollow potholes or sometimes crash barriers, these hurdles make the journey difficult yet memorable & beautiful. Similarly, many a times when life becomes difficult, when it pushes us to disregard our mental health, it led us into fear, gloom, isolation & nothingness breaking down the spirit, destroying the faith and snatching away from the courage to bounce back.
Our society has failed to understand or is unable to decipher the telltale signs among people. They have forgotten that all the wounds aren’t visible. Every year the statistical report published by World Health Organization states that there is a sharp rise in the cases of suicide, anxiety, addictions & many other disorders.
Why can’t we talk about our mental illness?
Why can’t we share our pain?
Why are we afraid to ask for help?
Why can’t we accept the fact that ‘It is okay not to be okay!”?
We are going to mess up, we are going to make mistakes, we aren’t always going to get it right. We are humans.
It happens.
It’s okay.
What matters is we pick ourselves up again and keep going.
Believe in ourselves that we are doing the best we can & we can do better.
Just like we check our INSTAGRAM often, we should remember to check our self more. Like we share our joyous moments through Instagram stories and posts, we should talk about our sorrows, hardships, sadness & depressed feelings to friends or family or a psychologist.
So let’s pledge to think & act in a way that we can motivate the afflicted ones to discover the healer within.
