Ever wished you could be one of those magical creatures? The modern-day cuckoos, who rise up before the sun? If not, that’s because you don’t know what the cool, clear sky feels like before the hot sun fills the day.
“You don’t miss what you don’t know”. It is actually correctly said, because if you had known what waking up early had to offer, you wouldn’t be able to go back to sleeping till noon. So if you still think slipping into the comforting cocoon of slumber during early morning is better, you truly haven’t seen the light of the day!
But being a morning person is not just about admiring the beauty of nature. Now I don’t mean to sound rude or anything, but most of us don’t care. A thing of oldies, isn’t it? Actually, no. Once you set up your day around it, you’ll feel younger than ever.
Here are a few quickies on what the mornings have to offer:
1. Energy- While sleeping undisturbed for half of the day sounds great, waking up early feels even better. It fills you up with oodles of energy, and moreover, with the opportunity to put that energy into good use. Better than the urge to go back to sleep you feel after breakfast at 12, won’t you agree?
2. Health- You’re good with the gym and eat right, but the fittest people go for a run in the streets early morning. They know that in a healthy body rests a healthy mind.
In the morning, the air is fresh, the atmosphere is cool, the body is full of energy, the mind is happy, and the motivation is at its peak. So whether you run, jog, do yoga or basic exercise- mornings are set to add something to it. It’s always better in the morning than in the evening.
3. Planning, Scheduling, Execution- With plenty of time to do the tasks you otherwise rush to do, you get the chance to plan your day and work accordingly if you wake up early. For example, how often do we switch over to having quick Maggi from the plan of having healthy sandwiches? Why do we do so? That is because we were already running behind the day and taking another hour to prepare breakfast wouldn’t do any good.
4. Time- So you want to go for a morning jog, read five novels a month, study for exams, finish the GOT series, work for that internship you’re eyeing, and paint in your leisure time. You would simply never have enough time to do all of these at once unless you’re a vampire and don’t need to sleep ever. But what you could do staying human is, try to finish two or three tasks of the list, if not all. And the extra time to do all this comes from- magic, magic- free mornings! It’s true that you’d have to sleep early for that, but you’re not seriously going to regret texting with everyone and anyone on WhatsApp who was awake at the time.
5. Just in time- How often do you wake up just in time to dress up and reach college before the late bell laughs its devilish laugh? It was every day for me back then.
Wake up early, you would never have to rush again. So you could wear your clothes ironed, have a second helping of the breakfast and still reach your college/office on time.
6. No disturbance- Well there’s a reason why mornings are quiet — most sleepyheads are sleeping in the morning. With a lesser number of people up at home, in the neighbourhood and across the phone, mornings could be a disturbance-free zone. That gives you the chance to do your important tasks without any interruption.
7. Vision- Most importantly, it gives you a vision. It saves you from spending last night wasting time and obliviously playing with your health. Your priorities will change. It is a motivation that leads to more motivation. When you’ll conquer the challenge of breaking through your toughest habit, you’ll see that nothing in the world is impossible.
Hence, I don’t see why not. Give it a month and your life would have already started changing, and in a good way.
And, oh, good morning!
