On the flip side.
Tolerance, Acceptance, Compromise, Contentment.
The above words are attributed to a complete and empowered being. These words serve as powerful adjectives that we all are encouraged to possess. However somewhere I’m not convinced that these qualities are all that empowering as its made to be.
Don’t get me wrong I do feel that some amount of acceptance and tolerance is necessary.
But I feel these words are overrated.
Here’s a thousand words why..
Because if we as an entire race , didn’t accept, tolerate, live with what’s happening in these pictures, these pictures wouldn’t have come into being in the first place.
A lot of what’s going on in our lives and the lives of those around us is because we learn to let things happen. We learn to tolerate and put up with it.
Abusive employer at work? — Tolerate it because it’s the source of income.
Abusive parent/spouse/child/family member — They probably love you deep down so let it slide.
Not happy with your current situation. -Well it could have been worse
When you allow certain people to dictate and govern your own life you empower them and their need of control. You in a way accept and agree with their nuisances, whatever they might be, and allow it to not only amplify towards you but also towards others who are still searching for their own voice.
On the flip side, when you make the very hard choice of stepping out of your comfort zone and taking complete control of your life without being influenced, you are not only making your life easier, but you are also hindering the existence of a possible dictator or a compulsive controller.
Now as I mentioned before, acceptance is important and sometimes it’s okay to let things such as certain arguments, disagreements, and situations which are not in or control, slip by.
But it is not okay to let someone abuse you physically, mentally or emotionally.
It is not okay to let some control you.
It is not okay for anyone to enforce their decisions and choices upon you.
And it not okay if someone is not letting you be you.
I hope that after reading this you are triggered towards standing up against anyone or any situation that is inhibiting you to reach your maximum potential. I hope that you not only reach your maximum but also help someone else reach theirs.
Ignorance is not always a bliss
