MIRONI BARRAGE ACROSS MAHANADI RIVER
V T LONDHE SEPT2011–MARCH2012
In the year 2011 the M/s Sew Infrastructure Limited again contacted me on phone and requested me to arrange for the consultancy for the work of the construction of a very long weir (about 1 kilometer long)across Mahanadi River near Champa- Janjgir District of Chhattisgarh State. The office site is located on the left bank of the river very near to a village location.
The site of this Weir construction finds 3 rd place in the series of 5 weirs across Mahanadi River in Chhattisgarh state and its length is about 1 (one) kilometer long and is very near to a village location on the left bank. The site is fully sandy and depth of the sand is around 10 to 15 feet. The start of the work had to be done by putting only sandy bunds on all the three sides of the area of the work to be taken up and dewatering all along with excavating of the sandy bed.
Actual construction works were taken up by removal of the whole of the sand from the area part by part and reaching the rocky bed everywhere .The work of excavation of the upstream and downstream cut off right up to the rocky bed was taken up and completed with the concrete and the required reinforcement.
The main weir work was also taken up side by side along with the downstream protection works and also completed as per the approved drawings along with the piers and their gate grooves.
Such works were also continued for the rest of the total length of the weir.
The work of the bridge was also taken up side by side.
