THE SPECIALITY OF THE NILGIRI (EUCALYPTUS) TREES
V T LONDHE DECEMBER 1968–JUNE 1970

Wherever one can find that there is any slushy or marshy land and it is very difficult to traverse that area, one should plant the Nilgiri (Eucalyptus) tree. The specialty of this tree is that it absorbs lots of water available below the ground and the area becomes nearly dry and can very well be traversed. This idea can very well be used downstream of the earth dam if the same is seeping very much. This needs to be used particularly in Dudhawa dam as there was a lot of seepage on the downstream of this dam.
