Hi, this is my first article and I’m Vasilije. Currently student of Architecture at Politecnico di Milano. Last year I started my journey in field of User Experience design, there was a need to change my career. I started learning on my own and soon after realized I had to take some form of formal education, without structure you can’t really build up your education(architectural reference).

This is my eight month in Interaction Design Specialization and I couldn’t be more happy by this whole experience. Yes, some weeks I felt overwhelmed and really didn’t have any ambition to finish that week, but I had deadline and responsibility, so welcome to grownup world, wo-man up and do your duties.

This is my last week here and I wanted to include some personal touch and share my thoughts.

Impact of digital world is evident, there’s almost no aspect of our life where we are not somehow impacted or led there by digital products. My goal there should be to design digital products in that way that every human who chose to use it can have a real benefit from it.

EVO was designed from human need for interaction. In perfect world we would all have a ton of friends who would care about us and chat with us at any time of need, but that’s really not our reality.

First this need came to my attention looking no further than myself, after that, talking with some friends and we shared a lot of same problems. We are really overwhelmed by everyday life that we feel like we need someone to listen to us, ask us how are we; and why our friends aren’t these creatures, well they already have enough on their own…

EVO is there to check up on you, without being too invasive, chatbot who can make a meaningful conversation, propose some activities, be that momentum when you feel too passive. He is not there to completely substitute human contact, idea is for him to guide you to better mental health. In today’s world, we are still social creatures, so we can’t talk human health without human-human interaction.

There’s also part of the service where you could play games designed for improvement of different aspects of your mental well-being, just like a section called Journey where you can see your progress, all the data collected and structured so you can see patterns or habits, something like emotional journal.

This course guided me through the process of development of this product. I’m completely sure without this process, I wouldn’t be able to formulate this original idea and come to the point where this product is.

Interviews, ideation process, wire-framing, rounds and rounds of testing and fine tuning completely formed EVO.
