As a parent, it is a daunting time for all of us, the period before a child starts school. Starting the school of your kid can be a difficult task for both parents n kids as well. It is a pleasant surprise, how fast our sweet babies grow n they are ready to begin their long educational journey.

We parents can help our children look forward to school, by removing their fear. So, how to prepare or can say how to train your little kids for their starting school.

The first day of school can help for the whole year. Although it can set the whole year’s tone, I can still remember sending off my first boy to school. It was a mixed feeling for me, excitement as well as anxiety.

Tips for having the best first day of school

It might be exciting for kids n parents as well. You can do lots of things before your kid’s big day. Act out common daily routine-using goodbye, singing a song, reading stories, playing outside, circle time.

Assure your child by talking to him, that preschool is a very good place where they will have fun and learn many things.

As a parent, you can enact play, to explore the idea of preschool to your little one.

You can read a storybook n explain to your child how the characters of the story are feeling and ask your kid, how the kid is feeling.

Before the first day, you can visit the school n classroom of your child, even some school invites parents ahead of starting school.

This is the time, while the excitement might be there over new clothes, water bottle school bag n tiffin box. Therefore, its always fun to go out with kids for their shopping. Having the favorite lunch box, backpack n pencil box can make a child feel excited.

Be positive n optimistic, talk to your child about your own school experiences. Talk about your favorite teacher n your great friends.

Try to meet the teacher, many teachers welcome email correspondence, find out the best way to communicate with the teacher outside the school.

The night before the first day of school

The night before your kid’s first day of school is very crucial.

You should prepare all things in advance, like packing schoolbag, go to bed early set alarms n wake up a little earlier, this may help you get adjusted to an earlier schedule n make your plan smoother.

Figure out how you are getting to school with your kid, don’t wait until the last minute to organize.

The super-simple first day of school will remind kids n parents that this is a very special n memorable time.

Positive phrases you can say to your kids

You are proud of your kid n your love is unconditional.

End of the day kids gets to their families.

Your school is a way to explore n learn new things and make new friends.

How to best say bye to your kids

Firstly, as a parent, we need to say goodbye to our kids with confidence. If we are tense, uncomfortable or we are scared, then it will be very difficult for our kids to feel safe and secure as they are separating from parents.

I remember, when I dropped off my elder son at school, I remember crying outside my son’s preschool after saying goodbye to him. I heard his cry after me, I was bursting out in tears as well.

I know countless parents have their stories.

Therefore, it is very important to prepare n practice ourselves, so we can help our kids in the best possible way.

Finally, when the big day arrives some parents like to sweeten this day with a back-to-school shopping trip. You could let your kids a celebratory meal for the first day of school.

Let your child bring his favorite toy such as a doll so that your child can bring a little reminder of home. This is obviously to ease his separation from parents.

Even you can fill his or her favorite sipper with their favorite drink. Never make a comparison of your kid with anyone else to say like-” Nysa does not cry when her mom leaves her ”.

In fact, we should honor our child’s process is the best way to make the transition to preschool as smooth as possible.

We can apply a reward system to give our child his or her own calendar

If your kid goes to school without putting up a fuss, your child will get a smiley face on his or her calendar. If he collected 5 smiley faces on Friday then your kid will get a treasure hunt as a treat or as a reward.

It is very important to minimize your fears as well as your child’s fear.

The more calm and confident you are, the more confident your child will be. As your child will probably sense that.

Try to resist surprise to school, don’t phone the school every hour because if you are always checking up on your child, you risk the reciprocity of your child.

Try to embrace your kid’s silliness

You can encourage your little kid to ham it up for the recording. You can capture your kid’s activity like - get footage of your kid jumping off the school bus.

I remember when my elder son went to preschool we captured his silliness in-camera n we n my kid enjoyed watching it later.

However, it is up to parents to lift them even they are little ones.

When kids have a strong support system, they will realize that they are safe and secure. The kid will realize that all goals are attainable.

End Notes:

Don’t be afraid to tell your kid, I am your no. 1 fan.

It is important that the positive things you say to your little one become their inner voice. :)
