I thought the reason developers write original code is for job security. If few people can figure out how you did it quickly, then they can’t get anyone to replace you. Just sounds reasonable from their perspective, especially since it’s an easy to outsource field.. India, Korea.

Plus the easier it is to replicate, the easier for hackers to spoof.
