Reporters trip over one another to cover Maureen McDonnell’s sentencing

Freezing temperatures and leftover snow didn’t stop an army of journalists from snapping a quick photo or getting a shaky shot of Bob and Maureen McDonnell, the former first couple, as they separately entered and left the federal courthouse in downtown Richmond on Friday.

Former Gov. Bob McDonnell arrives …
… and so does his wife, Maureen

TV cameras crowded each McDonnell as they appeared, leaving some photojournalists to make dashes for better angles.

News crews swarmed the SUV that brought Mrs. McDonnell to the courthouse for her sentencing.

Some moments got so rambunctious that photographers and reporters tripped over one another and the snowbank on the sidewalk.

With both Bob and Maureen McDonnell free pending their appeals, it’s likely that their future court appearances will draw more media mobs.
