Understanding of Web Design
From my understanding of Web Design, this is something that takes time and deep thought to prepare. A web designer must create a site that is not only unique in its design, but also is easy to navigate. A person with a technical background should have the same amount of ease navigating through a site as someone who is not very technical. The design behind a website is the most important thing. All functionalities should be present and there should be aspects of it that help users distinguish one feature to another. Having a website that is both complex in its design and user friendly is an ideal site for all types of users.
Web design also differentiates from web development. The development aspect usually comes after designing. For the design portion, a person must physically draw out how they want their website to look. They can place images, words, and links where ever they feel it could be the best use. Once the outline is created, the developer can then write out the code accordingly. It is crucial for the developer to test out their code frequently to assure that it is align with the design.
As development progresses, it is also important to not have too much of a complex design. With the design, the designer should attempt to use the site as someone who is not very technical or internet friendly. The feasibility of navigating through the site as well as maintaining a unique interface is the key to a successful website. Therefore, the designer and the developer should work closely together. First to see if the design is even able to be developed, and second to assure that the development of the website does not throw off the design significantly. Having a complex design will force the user to go out of their way and think about where they have to go. This will cause a poor user experience.
Overall, the concept of web design and web development go hand in hand. They must be connected and ensure that the development is aligned with the design. With that being said, creating a complex design with the feasibility of navigation and accessing its features will ultimately determine how a user can interact with it.
