The web is constantly evolving, and each iteration brings new features and functionalities. Below are some key terms you need to know for Web 3.0 and other emerging tech:

Web 1.0 — Read only — The static web of the 90s, offering limited information with no user interaction. Think one-way streets with content created by few.

Web 2.0 — Read, Write — The social web powered by advancements like JavaScript, enabling platforms like YouTube and Facebook for communication, user-generated content and data sharing.

Web 2.5: A transitional phase where established Web 2.0 giants integrate Web 3.0 technologies like NFTs to adapt and compete. Think of it as a bridge to the future.

Decentralization: Web 3.0’s core principle, shifting power and control from corporations to individuals through technologies like blockchain.

Blockchain: A distributed ledger technology used in Web 3.0 for secure and transparent data storage and ownership, like with NFTs.

Open Browsers: Accessible, non-restricted browsers crucial for the open and decentralized nature of Web 3.0.

Cross-Platform Applications: Applications accessible across different devices and platforms, regardless of the underlying operating system.

I try to add to this glossary after each new article with new buzz words. Please comment or reach out if I’m missing something you’d like to learn about.
