Week 10 Reflection from IEOR 190E, UC Berkeley
We moved on from the product to the customer acquisition and growth pieces this week. Our team understands that you can’t build something and expect people to come use it. You have to carefully find those people — get in your car and go where your customers live (figuratively and literally).
I found a great excerpt from Paul Graham about the importance of grwoth this week:
“A startup is a company designed to grow fast. Being newly founded does not in itself make a company a startup. Nor is it necessary for a startup to work on technology, or take venture funding, or have some sort of “exit.” The only essential thing is growth. Everything else we associate with startups follows from growth.”
