Yellow Sapphire, also known as Pukhraj Ratna In Hindi, is a beautiful and valuable gemstone. It is considered very important in astrology. But there is a lot of fake stones in the market, so it is important to know how to identify the real Pukhraj.

This article will tell you some easy ways with the help of which you can differentiate between real and fake Yellow Sapphire.

1. Check inclusions

Real Pukhraj is a naturally occurring gemstone and usually has microscopic cracks or cloud-like marks inside it, which are called inclusions. These marks are proof of its naturalness. At the same time, fake stone usually looks very clean and flawless.

2. Hardness check

This stone is one of the hardest gems in the world. Its hardness is 9 on the Mohs scale. You can try to scratch it with a sharp knife at home. If it is a real Pukhraj then there will be no mark on it. However, this method is a bit risky, so do it with caution or consult a jeweler.

3. Brightness check

The color of the real yellow Sapphire is yellow which is pleasing to the eyes and its shine is also dim. Fake Pukhraj often looks too bright and attractive, which is not a sign of genuineness.

4. Let the light pass

Real Pukhraj is slightly transparent, which means light can pass through it. Place Yellow Sapphire on a white paper and shine light on it. If the light falls slightly blurred on the paper then it is a good sign. At the same time, if the light does not pass through at all or passes very fast, then it can be a sign of being fake.

5. Heating test

This method is a bit risky and does not always work, so do it with caution. You can heat this stone lightly by holding it with tweezers. Real Pukhraj Stone will get a little hot when heated but will not break. At the same time, fake Pukhraj Ratna can burst or melt when heated.

Things to Note

  • The above methods are only for preliminary investigation. Don’t trust them completely.
  • Buy only certified Yellow Sapphire from a trusted gemologist. Gemologists are experts in examining gems.
