Vegan Gym Journey Week One

And so it begins! Week one of my journey towards some serious mental and physical gains while on a vegan diet.
For this journey, I have decided that I am going to be tracking my food intake, workouts and weight on a weekly basis. I think that in the past I haven’t really made an effort to consistently track my progress. This has lead me to loose track of whether on not I was actually making progress. At least this way I should be able to visually see and document my progress. I will be able to reflect and change my approach if necessary. Well, this is the plan anyway. (I must remain disciplined and not let the inevitable boredom of routine pull me off my intended path. I must keep the bigger picture in my mind).
I spent a couple of hours over the weekend creating some tables and charts that I will be able to fill in for my food intake and all my workouts. I’m not sure if I’m going to be posting my workout and food tables at this point. But I possibly will a bit further down the line.
So, I felt pretty good today. I got into the gym relatively early and smashed out my first workout. Chest. At this point, my body is not as strong as it used to be. I don’t think it is a result of a vegan diet but rather my training used to be a lot more consistent. Where I used to be able to lift a maximum dumbell press of 38kg for each arm and around 6–8 reps; i can now seem to lift no more that about 27kg for each arm. This is all going to change over the next few months.
The first leg of my training is going to be 12 weeks because my girlfriend and I have booked flights to the Philippines for two weeks from 20th November to 5th of December 17. That will be a little break. I’m really excited about our holiday and will be writing blog posts about our travels which I will be posting in the Vegan Travel tab.
Today I weighed in at 70.9kg, a little bit less than I though it would be. But no matter! I’m here to change those numbers. I have a goal of 80kg’s for my weight. I’m not quite sure why I’ve decided on 80kg but by the end of the year I would like to weigh about 75kg.
My short term food goal is simply to eat more. That is quite vague. But I’m going to try my best. (at the start of week two, I will post a detailed list/chart of what I ate for the whole of week one). Depending if i have a positive change or not, I will have to make changes to my diet in week two.
A factor that play’s into what I can actually get away with eating is that I have Psoriasis, which is an auto-imune skin disorder.
Having Psorisis is actually a large reason why I started a vegan diet. Although my skin is not at the level that I want it to be at (due to lazy eating); it is remarkably better than what it was before making the shift to a vegan diet.
