It is by law that all customers need to present their image of ID cards each time they open accounts in different merchants, e.g. banks, cryptocurrency exchanges, fintech platforms, etc, although their identities have been successfully verified by other companies.
These companies also need to abide the law that these images are to be stored in their system while performing the identity verification of each new customer. Therefore, the burden of re-verifying identity cannot be improved without breaking the law. A good example is when you have verified and open bank account in OCBC bank, when you want to open account in DBS bank, you have to represent IMAGE of your ID card. DBS can’t and wont ask OCBC bank to share the ID card image.
