How to Make The World Better (or Cleaner)

Solomon Goldstein has given us four things to avoid the worst catastrophes of climate change and how we could make the Earth better.

For one we need to make equipment like vehicles, heating systems, and other industrial processes to be electric. Solomon Goldstein stated “Electric equipment is more efficient than fuel-based equipment” and he is not wrong since it would increase the petawatt hours and lower global energy demand.

Second electricity needs to be cheaper since everyone can’t afford it. According to Solomon Goldstein, he states that “Over 700 million people don’t have access to electricity” and that is very unfortunate. He also says that electricity generation needs to grow more and get cheaper. And that richer countries need to address the issue of climate change so that other small or developing countries could follow suit.

Third, it needs to be more talked about in public discourse. How funny that he said that this reason is debatable since that is what discourse is. Politicians have been debating over the issue of climate change and it will lead to big debates if it’s for president, governor, mayor, etc. These could also lead to laws being made to combat climate change. Like, help reducing carbon or greenhouse emissions.

The last thing is we not only net net-zero but also net-negative emissions. We need a lot of tools to get rid of CO2 from the atmosphere. If we can get rid of all the CO2 left in the atmosphere then we will restore safe temperatures. He also said clean electricity will power the rest of the transition to achieve net-negative emissions by 2050.

Solomon Goldstein said it best “Addressing climate change means building a new world. A world in which energy is healthier and doesn’t pollute the air we breathe and where it’s cheaper and everyone globally has access to it. A world with higher incomes, longer and better lives, and greater equality. A better world”.
