Latest Innovation in Drinking Water

It makes up two thirds of our body, and according to specialists, is the primary health factor in humans.

We are a lot to drink daily a bottle of mineral water of 1.5l, but little to know that it costs about 200USD on the annual budget, consumption of 126 L of oil for manufacturing and transport, and causes the formation of more than 250 kg of CO2, that is to say for a household of four people:

  • 800 USD annuel turnover
  • 500 litres of oil (equivalent to 10,000 km driven in small car)
  • A ton of CO2.

It’s easy to understand, adding the environmental footprint of plastic bottles (some are burned, others go into the wild, and about one of two are recycled), why some of us are looking for alternatives to this embolism.

Households rush into filter jugs, with an equipment rate of around 20%, and a bit less than one billion dollars turnover for the major actor of this market. (just realize that this is just injected plastic parts…)

Real part of oil used for transportation in bottled water

Wrong took them: water quality often worse at the outlet than at the inlet (see independant surveys), bacteria, silver ions, releases of filtered components, a decrease of calcium and magnesium ions essential to our health, a lowering of pH below the recommended values (i. e. acidic water…), the results are not brilliant.

However, these small plastic machines have a recognized quality: provided the filter is changed “in time”, i. e. every 100 litres or 28 days, the taste of chlorine is greatly reduced, making the water more pleasant to drink.
As if by chance, chlorine, probably the most dangerous component of our tap water, is never measured in drinking water analyses, why?

Well, let’s look at its functions: to sterilize the water, durably, therefore with sufficient persistence to cover the way from the distribution centre to our tap, and above all, not to cost too much. It is internationally accredited for that, including in swimming pools, but much more dangerous than chlorine (no, drinking bleach can’t do us any good), there are its by-products, names that smell good polar: Chloroforms, trihalomethanes, halonitromethanes, N-nitrosodimethylamines and many others, for many carcinogens, odorous and tasty. Together with the organic matter in the water, these are the main culprits of the bad taste and odours of our tap water.

Their formation is made as soon as the free chlorine injected at the beginning of the pipes meets a little organic matter: bacteria, algae, biofilm in the pipes, that is to say in almost all cases…
For this reason, it is not possible to mention the chlorine / chloramine ratio (sometimes called “free chlorine / combined chlorine”), it varies according to the point of distribution.
Contrary to what positivists say about the possibility of aerating water for one hour to eliminate chlorine, this is not true for chloramines!

For proof, I did the test in January in Las Vegas, a city that treats water with chloramine (less powerful than chlorine, but more persistent, suitable for long networks), after 24 hours of aeration, the water was still heavily loaded, and my wallet unloaded two dollars of a bottle of mineral water.

So, what to do, what attitude to adopt: continue mineral water (risks of oestrogen and release of antimony) and harm the environment and our wallet, use a filtering jug and risk harming yourself (and always your wallet with an annual cost of about 100USD), or simply consume tap water with effects that are probably not catastrophic, but still present, and accompanied by a taste that is not very tasty ?

There is a fourth way, where tap water can be used, to remove all chlorine and chloramines, taste and odours, but without filtering it, without consumables, with the absolute certainty that the container is free of any bacterial contamination, without any release of anything.

his brand new solution, inspired by nature, has just passed its tests successfully in an approved water laboratory and at the National Center for Scientific Research (C.N.R.S).

For several years, we have been looking for what is important in the natural water cycle, which allows us, for example, to encounter the crystal clear water of mountain streams and lakes.

We launched this technology at the CES in Las Vegas, and conducted hundreds of tastings on Vegas tap water. Local bottled water manufacturers told us that the taste was finer than their mineral (filtered) water!

LaVie turns tapwater into mineral pure water

LaVie is something radically innovative, very beautiful, affordable, with a real potential to improve health and the pleasure of drinking water… excellent!!
All the details on www.LaVie.bio, the first sales are made through a participative financing on kickstarter since January 24th.
