Emphysema is a respiratory illness. In this situation, millions of the alveoli (lungs’ tiny air sacs) stretch out of rupture/shape. As these thin, fragile air sacs become destroyed or damaged, the lungs lose their general elasticity. They become weak to empty quickly. Emphysema is a growing disease, which means it remains to get more serious. As the disease progresses, the lungs lose their capacity to absorb oxygen and free carbon dioxide. Patient Breathing becomes more complex. A person thinks easily short of breath like she/he is not getting sufficient air. Both chronic bronchitis & emphysema are caused by injury to the lungs and bronchial tubes. When the injury is caused by smoking, signs may improve after a smoker stops.
