The inimitable hair comb isn’t a domain for women alone. Men use it too. As impertinent as it may seem, the hair comb is the first piece of styling device that is used to prune your hair. We all know that hair loss affects both men and women. Well, if we were to minutely examine the causes of hair loss in both the species, then we might very well start with the comb. There are also some scrupulous individuals who would like to carry their combs in their pockets. Outlined here are a selection of combs and their uses.

Wide-toothed comb

This is one of the most accepted combs that every individual owns. Due to their ability to detangle hair easily, wide-toothed combs are preferred the moment you wake up in the morning.

Fine-toothed comb

Dishevelled hair is well-managed with a fine-toothed comb. After detangling your hair with the wide-toothed variety, use the fine teeth of this comb to put all your hairs back together in their place. You might have to approach with caution if you are using the fine teeth because they can block thick manes causing breakage when you try to pry them loose.

Rat tail comb

Partings and partitions are executed impeccably with the rat tail comb. Part your hair down the side or the middle, using the rat tail segment of the comb. The bristles can be made to run across the hairs to create the sides.

Pin tail

A lot like the rat tail, the pin-tailed comb has a finer appendage that can be used for intricate hair partings. With the tail, you can get hairstyles with blond streaks or even attach rollers. They are extremely useful for gathering hairs when you want to attach rollers and curl them.

Barber combs

A highly effective tool for men, the barber comb (as the name suggests) rightly enables the barber to trim the hair that is really close to the head. With a tapered head, the comb provides a variety of options.

Type Of Hair Combs And Their Uses

Rake Comb

Resembling the garden rake, the rake comb can be utilised to untangle lengthy hair. Straighten out any long hair messes using the rake comb with minimal discomfort, pain or hair loss.

Pocket comb

The pocket comb essentially has finer teeth on one side and slightly broader teeth on the other. Generally used by men, the comb has many purposes and is a regular feature in the man’s pocket.

Teasing Comb

If you have thin hair and your hairstyle selection is rather limited, then use the teasing comb that also looks a lot like the rat tail comb. But the number of bristles are rather limited and that is why this is only used for teasing the hair like picking up a couple of hairs and holding them straight, etc. where you may have to run the comb, at least 6 to 7 times to preserve your fairly long hairstyle.

All-purpose comb

This looks a lot like the pocket comb but is slightly longer. It is a sturdy appliance that may or may not come with separate sets of broad and fine teeth. The bristles are levelled right across its length.
