Marriana’s line of work for the US Department of Defense does not have room for failure. If one pictures a military base as a plethora of mobile supplies, weapons, and ships, she is the invisible force behind these moving parts.

“It’s not sexy, but it’s interesting.”

Marriana is one of the few contract specialists who work in the small field of naval contracting. It is a highly specialized field, one that makes maritime combat missions possible across domestic and international waters. For over nearly two decades, she has become an expert in exactly this. It is because of her work — the allocation and management of contractors — that the ships and bases of the United States are always maintained, always prepared for the worst.
