Arrow Review “Nanda Parbat”
The opening with Ra made me think of “Coming to America” and was partially waiting to see to women or men emerge from under the water.
“My friends call me Dig, you shouldn’t even speak to me.”
I’m really happy there were some good Oliver and Diggle moments where they open up. It started with the two of them and Oliver’s list. It was nice to see the writers address it especially with the group growing larger and larger. Diggle’s favor wasn't surprising but sweet.
I know the flashbacks serve their purpose but I'm getting very tired of them and tonight’s seem to serve any purpose. It’s gotten to the point where they feel more like filler than really progressing the story.
Roy and Thea connecting over their killing of innocent people was interesting. They have plenty in common and they need someone to lean on when they have issues with Oliver. It was very nice to show how Roy dealt with his guilt and that what he did hasn’t been ignored.
I really enjoy like Ray Palmer’s story and want not just the ATOM suit to be realized but would like to get more of his story. His reasoning for wanting to become a vigilante is just as good as anyone else’s on the show. I do hope there’s a spin-off not just for more comic books shows but for the potential of what could come of it.
As for shipping, which I’m not a fan of, Ray is the best fit for Felicity. Far to many people on social media focus on who looks good together. Oliver is destined to be with Laurel and Barry has Iris. They (Ray & Felicity) are both scientifically minded and still look for the best in people. It’s not about looks it’s about how two people can complement each other and make themselves better. Just spending the night together gave him the inspiration he needed to complete the ATOM suit.
Oliver motivation for wanting to save Malcolm wasn't the wrong move. Vengeance isn't the same as justice. He can handle the what it means to kill or allow someone to die. He knows what toil it takes and doesn't want that on Thea since she already has to deal with Sara’s death. Malcolm does need to be handled but he’s an asset that needs to be used.
Overall this was a middle of the road episode but I like what it set up for next week.
