Do Not Go Cluttered Into That Good Night?
Elinor Schull Meeks

I lived in a small 1 bed flat for a decade and got into a decluttering frame of mind, having a small clear out about once a month. I still do the same although not quite so rigorously. No virtue on my part, just habit, but I do get somewhat twitchy if I don’t do it.

Fetishising a habit or routine and marketing it vigorously as a ‘cure all’ for various ills isn’t new but it’s annoying, especially when new nostrums and crazes appear at dizzying speed.

When tidying your stuff is seen as a gateway to a better life, the bran tub must surely be close to empty – which I’m sure Kondo-ites would see as a good thing.
