I have a +5 to Dice Tower checks.

Looks like it’s time to roll some dice again!

For those unfamiliar with Starfinder, it is a tabletop roleplaying game similar to Dungeons & Dragons. It is set in a Sci-Fi/Fantasy setting with a vast array of planets, alien species, classes, spaceships, and history that is absolutely enjoyable to immerse yourself in. With the right crew, of course.

So let’s jump right in!

Over the course of our Starfinder campaign I will be writing a first-person account of each game session from my character Vhell’s perspective; space battles, new alien discoveries and all! (I’ll also include a glossary at the bottom of each blog post containing the definitions/context for any italicized AND bolded words or phrases for those less familiar with the terms I’ll use that are either related to general Role Playing Games or Starfinder specific :p)

I also promise to attempt to write Vhell’s story in an engaging and entertaining style, dropping you into the Starfinder world rather than a mere word-dump of event details.

So a bit about my character and the setting before the adventure begins:

Vhellus Esar Qura’Loro

A Kasathas Solarian from the original Starfinder art.

Vhell is of the Kasathas race in Starfinder, one of the many intriguing alien races playable in the game. He, like many other Kasathas, places great value in both old and new traditions he creates for himself as he goes through life. His behaviors and customs may seem odd or standoffish to some, but that’s not his problem.

That’s not to say he is rude or stubborn. Quite to the contrary, Vhell maintains a strict code of staying true to his word, practicing balance of mind and being, and discovering new cultures.

He is, after all, a Kasathas Solarian just beginning the pilgrimage of his Tempering. (So many nerdy new words there!)

Originally from the Idari station, Vhell is keeping a blog of his travel journeys.

Vhell’s Blog, Other Players, and Final Thoughts

The blog will read like a story/travel blog, but will also contain links to this post as a reference for new readers (or those simply confused), links to the previous and next blog entry, my Instagram account link for Vhell and RPG related content, the date IN-GAME, Vhell’s current location in the Pact World’s System, images either in-game or of us playing the game at the table, and more.

Throughout the blog I will reference many characters, some of which are played by real people with me at the table and by our GM (Game Master).

Lastly, I just want to mention that I am writing this blog for three reasons: For entertainment, to better my understanding of the Starfinder world, and because the GM is handing out extra experience points for any players that create some form of artistic or technical “journal” of the events of the game.

If in turn I happen to entertain you or inspire anyone to look into playing a tabletop role playing game like Starfinder or Dungeons and Dragons, all the better! RPG’s are certainly a nerdy endeavor, but not nearly in the ways you expect. If playing with the right friends, RPGs are an absolute joy to play that often results in thunderous laughter and utter disbelief at the absurdity of the situations you find yourself in. (As this blog will attest to, I hope, and I cannot recommend playing them enough.) So if you have any questions please feel encouraged to leave a comment below!

In balance with the Cycle of all light and dark,
Vhell

Vhell’s Instagram

  • Campaign: The collection of game sessions that tell an overarching story.
  • Session: A single game played during a day/night that progresses the story.
  • Kasathas: A four-armed, grey-skinned humanoid creature from Kasath, a far away planet outside of the Pact Worlds System. All Kasathas have since left their home planet and mostly reside on Idari.
  • Kasath: A massive desert planet orbiting a dying red giant star.
  • Solarian: A playable class in Starfinder much like Fighter or Bard, that uses the forces of light and dark in the Universe to learn abilities of creation and destruction.
  • Tempering: A year-long walkabout/pilgrimage all Kasathas embark on upon becoming adults (24 years old) in which they adopt and create their own set of customs through experiencing new cultures, testing their limits, and engaging in perhaps otherwise normally improper behavior all to discover the value of tradition.
  • Idari: A colony station where most of the Kasathas live, floating in orbit in the Pact Worlds System.
  • Pact Worlds System: The solar system in which the Starfinder game setting takes place.
  • Game Master: The person who runs the game and creates the world.
  • Experience Points: Points gained to help a character grow and learn new abilities during the story.
  • The Cycle: The philosophy that all things in the Universe are balanced between creation and destruction, light and dark, stars and black holes, and that this balance must be observed in one’s own life.
