Information Management
According ischool. uw school that publish about information management “in today’s knowledge economy, organizations that can’t properly utilize their information assets risk serious failure. Information management is an emerging field that is concerned with:
The infrastructure used to collect, manage, preserve, store and deliver information, the guiding principles that allow information to be available to the right people at the right time, the view that all information, both digital and physical, is an asset that requires proper management, the organizational and social contexts in which information exists
The purpose of information management is to: design, develop, manage, and use information with insight and innovation support decision making and create value for individuals, organizations, communities, and societies” (ischool, n.d.).

Information management embraces all the generic concepts of management, including the planning, organizing, structuring, processing, controlling, evaluation and reporting of information activities, all of which is needed in order to meet the needs of those with organizational roles or functions that depend on information. These generic concepts allow the information to be presented to the audience or the correct group of people. After individuals are able to put that information to use, it then gains more value. Information management is closely related to, and overlaps with, the management of data, systems, technology, processes and – where the availability of information is critical to organizational success – strategy. This broad view of the realm of information management contrasts with the earlier, more traditional view, that the life cycle of managing information is an operational matter that requires specific procedures, organizational capabilities and standards that deal with information as a product or a service (Wikipedia, n.d.).

Information management (also IM) concerns a cycle of organizational activity: the acquisition and data, information and realization (development) applications and services from one or more sources, the custodianship and the distribution of that data, information, applications and services to those who need it, and its ultimate disposition through archiving or deletion (Dragon1, n.d.).

Data Management

Tech Target defines data as “information that has been translated into a form that is efficient for movement or processing. Relative to today’s computers and transmission media, data is information converted into binary digital form. It is acceptable for data to be used as a singular subject or a plural subject. Raw data is a term used to describe data in its most basic digital format (O'neal, 2017).”

Emphasizes explicit characteristic of information: facts, figures and other hard data Can be measured quantitatively in short time frames, is easy to replicate, is technology-based (Brooks, 2020). while the gathering, analyzing, and storing today, companies turn to data management solutions and platforms. Data management solutions make processing, validation, and other essential functions simpler and less time-intensive (O'neal, 2017).
There are few differences in the information management and data management, they have the same gathering raw date to become a useful information for those who need it. The use of time management and platforms are very important.
