What an eloquent way to frame misogyny in societal and historical context. I have been trying to say the same thing to explain that there is a difference between women expressing general anger at male ignorance, and men kicking women who are already disadvantaged. The difference between women jokingly tweeting #KillAllMen and men tweeting the same about women is that men have actually gone out and done it. There is nothing more hypocritical than a man who cries, “Misandry!” but only when he has an opportunity to silence a conversation about misogyny.
It’s unfortunate that these guys are willing to use history denial. While your article may coax a few meninists back into the real world, I thank you especially for strengthening the feminist voice; you’re refusing to be one of those good people who does nothing and expects that to turn out well.
We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.—Elie Wiesel
