📍 Mumbai, India.

I came to visit the monument, but I stayed for the people. One of the interesting things I have noticed in India is how engaging and curious people are. They are willing to stop and talk to you, ask you questions and take pictures with you. The kids wave and smile and they come to say hi. I figured that’s because I am a tourist and probably I look the part. Either way, I find that behavior to be welcoming and hospitable.

However, there was one thing that did surprise me. More than a couple of times someone walked up to me and asked me to hold their baby. Sometimes they took pictures and sometimes they just wanted to say hi. This in particular happened too often for me to ignore. Do you know if there is a reason or a cultural significance behind it?
